Oreck Halo Unltraviolet Vacuum with FREE Cordless Electrikbroom - Frontgate Review

My wife and I have gone through three different bagless vacuum cleaners over the past 4 years or so.We've owned two Hoover Wind Tunnels and a Bissell "Lift Off Revolution Turbo" and at roughly $150.00 a piece we've "invested" about $450.00 and have a pile of vacuum cleaner junk to show for it.We have two dogs (used to be three) and even after vacuuming with the bagless department store vacs you could still get dog fur on you if you sat in the floor or dare dropped clothing in the floor.The bagless models had 2-3 filters which would clog easily and it was impossible to get rid of the dog smell.Each of these models lasted us about a year before we junked them due to loss of suction.

I'll save the drawn out purchase story, but let's just say I've never dreamed of spending $600.00 on any vacuum cleaner, but with a 13 month old son with a tendancy to shove his face into the new twist carpet we wanted to actually CLEAN the carpet when we vacuumed.

The Oreck Halo absolutely sucks.I mean this in the best way possible.The suction is far better than any dept. store name brand vacuum, and with the UV-C light killing germs and even dust mites/eggs it's hard to think we've wasted our money.It works amazingly well on our long twist/frieze carpet,and is equally amazing on our bare hardwood floors too.I can roll around on my floor/carpet in a black t-shirt after vacuuming and not have any hairs or anything on me - I've NEVER been able to do that before.

I can't speak upon the durability/reliability because we've just gotten it, but Oreck's reputation for building outstandingly durable vacuums is pretty well known.

Since we spend so much time indoors, and we vacuum at least 3 times a week it doesn't seem so "crazy" to spend $599.00 on a vacuum cleaner.We are by no means rich - we did the 0% financing for 12 mos. at our local Oreck store.It'smoney well spent, or should I say to be spent.
